Australia-New Zealand Regional IASYM Conference

Youthworks College, Sydney

5-7 October, 2022

The ANZ-IASYM Regional Conference will be held at Youthworks College, 2-16 Carillon Ave. Newtown, NSW, Australia, from Wednesday to Friday, 5-7 October, 2022.

The conference gathers researchers, scholars, and reflective practitioners to promote academic research related to ministry amongst children, youth, and emerging adults.

Conference Details

This three-day academic conference provides an opportunity for teachers, lecturers and researchers across Australia and New Zealand to present their research to their colleagues for feedback and constructive criticism.

The conference also provides practitioners as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students with the opportunity to engage with the latest scholarship and research.

The conference will begin 9:30am Wednesday 5th October and finish 1pm Friday 7th October.

Accommodation is not included, but for those travelling to Sydney, we would highly recommend the nearby Christian accommodation at Golden Grove http://goldengrove.org.au/. There is some parking space here if you are driving but contact their office to confirm.

Youthworks College is easy to get to by public transport, a 15 minute walk from either Newtown or Redfern Station. Street parking around Youthworks College is difficult. The parking on Carillon Avenue tends to be 2 hours, ticketed and regularly patrolled by ticket inspectors. But parking can be found if you are willing to drive around the backstreets. We would encourage you to use public transport!

Call for Papers

Submissions for papers are due by Monday, 27 June, 2022. Window for lodging proposals Extended to Friday, 1 July

The program for 2022 offers three formats for engagement and interaction: research papers, emerging research and workshops:

·       Research Papers present new research in children’s, youth, and emerging/young adult ministry submitted by conference delegates. In each session the presentation will be followed by a prepared response as well as group discussion. Research Papers are complete works of research that are ready for constructive critical engagement. The academic committee will choose papers to be presented at keynote or elective sessions.

·       Emerging Research sessions provide an opportunity to share ‘works-in-progress’ and developing thoughts as well as completed ideas not yet established in a formal paper. These sessions provide an opportunity for new or emerging researchers (whether engaged in formal study or as a thoughtful practitioner) to road-test ideas and receive feedback in a constructive environment.

·       Workshops offer professional development opportunities to assist delegates in the craft of research, publication, ministry practice or the teaching of ministry to children, youth and emerging/young adults.

Invitation to Submit Proposals

Submit your proposals no later than Friday, 1 July via this link.

Proposals should include a 200-word abstract, along with your contact information and some background information about your research.

Notification of acceptance will be delivered to authors by 8 July, 2022.

Full research papers and workshop outlines must be submitted by 1 September, 2022.
